(Shri Ganesha Puja) 

PART 1

Opening invocation(here we bow to and invoke the great aspects of the divine.)

Ring bell for each mantra:

Shri Manmahaganadhipataye namah

SHREE MAN MA HA GAW NOD HE POT EYE YAY NA MA

We bow to our respected great lord of wisdom

Lakshminarayanabhyam namah

LOCK SHMEE NARA YAWN AH BHEE YUM NA MA

We bow to Lakshmi and Narayana, The goal and perceived of all

Umamaheshvarabhyam namah

OOM AH MA HESH VARA BHEE YUM NA MA

We bow to Uma(goddess of the mountain) and Maheshvara(supreme consciousness)

Vanihiranyagarbhabhyam namah

VAW NEE HER AN YA GAR BHA BHEE YUM NA MA

We bow to Vani and Hiranyagarbha, cosmic creation

Shachipurandarabhyam namah

SHAW CHEE PUR AND AURA BHEE YUM NA MA

We bow to Shachi and Purandara, king and queen of the divine.

Matapitrbhyam namah

MA TA PETE TREE BHEE YUM NA MA

We bow to our mothers and fathers

Ishtadevatabhyo namah

EESH TA DAVE AW TA BHEE YO NA MA

We bow to our personal Gods and Goddesses

Kuladevatabhyo namah

KOOL AH DAVE AW TA BHEE YO NA MA

We bow to the Family God’s and Goddesses

Gramadevatabhyo namah

GRAW MA DAVE AW TA BHEE YO NA MA

We bow to the community God’s and Goddesses

Vastudevatabhyo namah

VAW STOO DAVE AW TA BHEE YO NA MA

We bow to the God’s and Goddesses of the house

Sthanadevatabhyo namah

STAW NA DAVE AW TA BHEE YO NA MA

We bow to the God’s and Goddesses who are established

Sarvebhyo devebhyo namah

SAR VAY BHEE YO DEV AY BHEE YO NA MA

We bow to all the divine

Sarvebhyo brahmanebhyo namah

SAR VAY BHEE YO BRA MA NAY BHEE YO NAMAH

We bow to all who are wise and divine.

Opening Invocation of Ganesh with offerings(here we invoke Ganesh with light, incense and fire.)

Light Candle and wave in clock wise circular motion around in front of the image of Lord Ganesh and say the following mantra(prayer)

Om agnirjoyti ravirjoytishchandro joytistathaiva ca

joytishamuttamo deva dipo yam pratigrhyatam

esha dipah om gam ganapataye namah

OM, AGNEER JOY TEE, RA VEER JOY TEESH CHAWN DRO, JOY TEE STUT HIVE AW CHA, JOY TEE SHAW MOO TOM OH, DAVE AH, DEE PO, YUM, PRAW TEE GREEH YA TUM, ESH AW DEE PAW OM GUM GAWN AH POT EYE YAY NA MA

We Salute the divine fire that is the divine light, The light that is wisdom, the light that is devotion,  The light of enlightenment, Oh Divine ones who are in the light which we offer to you please accept this offering of  light We salute and bow to the Lord of wisdom Ganesh Lord of multitudes.

Light the incense and wave gently around the image of Lord Ganesh and say the following mantra(prayer)

Om vanaspatirasotpanno gandhatyayi gandha uttamah

Agreyah sarvadevanam dhupo yam pratigrhyatam

Esa dhupah om gam ganapataye namah

OM, VAW NOS POT EAR AW SOT PAWN NO, GAWND HOT YA YEE, GAWND HA, OOT TUM MAH, AW GREY AH, SAR VA DAVE AH NOM, DOOP OH, YUM, PRAW TEE GREEH YA TUM, EH SHAW, DOOP AH, OM, GUM, GONE AH POT EYE YAY, NA MA

We Salute the spirit of the forest from whom we take this most blessed scent, the most pleasing of scents unto the divine, please accept this offering of incense a most blessed scent we salute and bow to the lord of wisdom Ganesh Lord of multitudes. 

Light camphor and wave in clockwise circular motion around in front of the image of Lord Ganesh(remember to use only a small amount or a small piece! camphor burns big and lets off a lot of black smoke and soot, if you rent a place or if smoke damage is of concern you can skip camphor offerings or only offer once in a while, when lit keep away from flammable objects)

Om chandradityau cha dharani vidyudagnistathaiva cha

tvameva sarvajoytisim aratrikam pratigrhyatam

Om gam ganapataye namah aratrikam samarpayami

OM, CHAWN DRAW DEET YOW, CHA, DUH HAW RONY, VEED YOU DAG NEE STUT HIVA AH CHA, TWA MEVA, SAR VA JOY TEE SHEEM, AH RA TREE COME, PRAW TEE GREEH YA TUM, OM GUM GAWN A POT EYE YAY NA MA, AH RAW TREE COME, SAW MAR PIE YA MEE

We salute the all knowing moon and sun as well as the divine fire, you are the light of everything please accept this offering of light We salute and bow to the Lord of wisdom Ganesh Lord of multitudes.

If you choose not to offer Camphor simply move on to the next mantra(prayer) 

Om payah prthivyam paya oshadishu

payo divyantarikshe payo dhah

payahsvatih pradishah santu mahyam

OM PIE YAH, PREET HEEV YUM, PIE YA, OH SHAW DEE SHOE,

PIE YO, DEEV YAWN TAW REEK SHAY, PIE YO, DAH

PIE YAS VA TEEH, PROD EESH AH, SAN TWO, MAH YUM

Om agnirdevata vato devata suryo devata

Chandrama devata vasavo devata rudro devata

Ditya devata maruto devata vishve deva devata

Brhaspatirdevatendro devata varuno devata

OM AG NEER DAVE AH TA, VA TOE, DAVE AH TA, SIR YO DAVE AH TA

CHAN DRAMA, DAVE AH TA,  VAW SAW VO, DAVE AH TA, RUDE RO, DAVE AH TA

We salute the divine fire who is the light of the Divine! The Divine wind, the divine sun, the divine moon, Divine wealth, Divine healers and those who relieve those who suffer, the divine sons and daughters are the light of the divine, all in the universe is the light of the divine and the ones who are enlightened are the light of the divine as well as the light of the divine water and the king of the divine is the light of the divine.

Part 2 will cover the long form of the Gayatri mantra and invoking the light within and bringing it into union with the divine light!
